Health Week

Hello, it is health week in Dingwall Primary School this week. All week there are lots of different healthy activities for everyone to join in.

On Monday we went to Capoeira in the gym hall. Capoeira is like break dancing, you do different moves. It is great you should try it out if you can. On Tuesday we went to the fitness sessions in the gym hall with Mrs Junor. We did circuits , lifting weights and bunny hops were two of the activities. Later we went to a handwashing session with Mrs Bryan. We learned about washing our hands properly. There was a wicked wellie walk on Wednesday going from Tesco to the school.Today we are going to a dental care talk in the afternoon and tomorrow is Fruity Friday and we are doing a sponsored aerobics session to raise money for a new school mini- bus. We have had a very healthy week and we all had a great time!

Last Monday we went to Capoeira. The man was called Fraser and he brought in an instrument that looked like a bow and arrow. There was a big stone at the bottom and there was a little one at the top and the big stone made it louder, it sounded like no other instrument we have ever heard before. One move was called a telefono, we went into two circles and Fraser played the instrument while we were doing the moves in the circle. We thought it was great fun!

Handwashing Session

On Tuesday we went to see Mrs Bryan to learn how to wash our hands properly.Mrs Bryan put a special powder on our hands which was like fake germs. We washed and dried our hands and then we put our hands in a special machine. It had a special purple light and if the powder was still on our hands it showed up green. We all had powder still on our hands, even Mrs Mackay. we asked lots of questions and we are all going to try to wash our hands mors carefully from now on.

Dental Health Talk

On Thursday 1st of November we went to learn how to look after our teeth. There was a lady called Ailsa she showed us what bacteria looked like. Ailsa told us what kind of sugars are in food. They are called lots of different names and most of thenm end in ose. Like sucrose, fructose, dextrose, maltose, honey and syrup! She had a teddy with teeth that made a noise and a big, white, toothbrush. we saw some teeth and some of them were rootten and some were out!We really enjoyed the talk and ilsa gave Mrs Mackay lovely stickers and leaflets for us to take home today.

Sponsored Aerobics Workout

This morning at 11o’clock our class went to the gym hall for an aerobics workout. It was called Boxercise we were practising punches and kicks. We did it to raise money to get a new school mini-bus because our old one is not very good. Mrs Mackay joined in and it was funny!!! She wasn’t very good at the high kicks! We all had fun.
