Maria
On Wednesday afternoon we had circle time and Mrs Mackay brought in some photos and letters from a girl that she sponsors called Maria, she lives in Malawi in Africa.
We were interested to know about her as we had talked about her when we learned abot the Send My Friend To School campaign. Maria is an 11year old girl and she weighs about 5 stone. She is very clever and she has very neat writing! Mrs Mackay sends a little money to Maria and her family every month and they have raised lots of money for the Namachete project in the area.
They have built a new school with 16 classrooms and some houses for the teachers to live in. Before that Maria had her lessons outside under the trees! Maria sends letters and lots more things to Mrs Mackay and Mrs Mackay sends lots of things backto her we think she is very pretty.

I heard about Maria in p3 i think. we didn’t see any photo’s but still we did learn alout her and other people like her.
